2026 Canton Fair Interpreter Rates Rules Booking

Core Information on Interpreters at the 2026 Canton Fair

Decide if you need an interpreter, choose between official booth interpreters or full-day accompanying interpreters, and verify the credentials of any private Chinese interpreter. Follow these steps to ensure you have the right language support.

Official interpreter prices, qualifications for private interpreters, and daily delivery requirements are all part of this decision. Always check the official Canton Fair website for the most current information.

Official On-Site Interpreter Rates

The official interpreter rates for the 2026 Canton Fair are as follows:

  • English Booth Interpreter: ¥600/day (less than 4 hours is half a day, more than 4 hours is a full day)
  • English Accompanying Interpreter: ¥800/day (less than 4 hours is half a day, more than 4 hours is a full day)
  • Other Languages Booth Interpreter: ¥800/day (less than 4 hours is half a day, more than 4 hours is a full day)
  • Other Languages Accompanying Interpreter: ¥1,000/day (less than 4 hours is half a day, more than 4 hours is a full day)

These rates are subject to change, so always check the official Canton Fair website for the latest information.

Bringing Your Own Chinese Interpreter

If you plan to bring your own Chinese interpreter, follow these steps:

  1. Ensure the interpreter has one of the following qualifications: CATTI, NAETI, or a foreign language degree from a mainland Chinese university. Prepare the necessary documentation.
  2. Submit the qualification and pre-bind the interpreter with the overseas buyer through the official registration system. Do not wait until the fair to start this process.
  3. Allow about 2 natural days for the review. Save the review results.
  4. Pay the interpreter badge fee, which is approximately ¥300/day plus a ¥50 processing fee. Check the official Canton Fair website for the exact amount.
  5. Note that each overseas buyer can bind up to one interpreter and one assistant per session. Do not repeat bindings.

These requirements are based on the 138th session and may change. Always refer to the official Canton Fair website for the latest guidelines.

Private Interpreter Service Boundaries

When hiring a private interpreter, make sure to clarify the following:

  • One day includes how many hours. Overtime should be clearly defined, not left to “figure it out on-site.”
  • How overtime is calculated, whether by hour or in segments.
  • Who covers travel time, transportation, and accommodation if the interpreter leaves Guangzhou.
  • Deposit amount or percentage and when it is due. Do not confirm the schedule without clear deposit terms.
  • Cancellation policy, including when and how much is refundable. This should be stated alongside the deposit terms.

Our private interpreter services include full-day accompaniment and interpretation for US$349/day or US$900 for 3 days, with a supplier comparison report included. These rates are subject to the same conditions as above.

Trial Translation and Conflict of Interest

Before hiring an interpreter, conduct a trial translation. Send them a specification sheet and ask them to explain MOQ, tooling, tolerance, Incoterm, certification, and payment terms. This will help you assess their ability to accurately follow up and record details.

Ask the interpreter directly if they receive any commission or referral fees from suppliers. If they do or refuse to disclose, they cannot be considered an independent buyer’s interpreter.

If your budget is tight, download Google's offline language pack or use WeChat's scan-to-translate feature. Note that Google's online services are not accessible in China, but you can use WeChat's QR code scanning for text translation.

Daily Supplier Record Requirements

Each day, ensure you have the following 13 fields recorded for each supplier:

  • Supplier’s full Chinese name
  • Booth number
  • Contact person
  • Product model
  • Sample price
  • Mass production price
  • MOQ
  • Mold fee
  • Lead time
  • Incoterm
  • Certification
  • Next steps
  • Payment method

Check these 13 fields before leaving the exhibition hall. Missing the supplier’s full Chinese name, booth number, or contact person will make it difficult to follow up later.
